WORLD PREMIERE

This year's most anticipated surf movie will premiere locally at Island Surf and Sport, Friday Nov 26 at 7:00pm.

"GoPro and WAX are proud to announce the locations of the world premieres of Innersection: Blue. The events will take place simultaneously in 26 cities around North America, Canada and Puerto Rico and many of the stops will be hosted by the athletes who's winning sections are featured in the film. The DVD will be distributed by WAX and will be available in stores late November.

Innersection: Blue has been in-the-making for the past year. Working with established filmmakers, pro surfers have pushed themselves to each build a 2-3 minute surf section, which they entered in the five Innersection contest rounds. During each round, registered Innersection members were asked to vote on their favorite sections to determine the top 25 that will make up the DVD.

After the final 25 sections were chosen, the athletes went back to their filmmakers edit bay's, and some even to their helicopters, to create all new sections for the final DVD. With Taylor Steele producing everything, Innersection has all the action of Campaign and Stranger, with and unexpected dose of art and soul. That's what happens when 25 directors each pour all their efforts and clips into a rock-solid 2-3 minute segment. There are more destinations than Sipping Jetstreams, more surfers than Stranger Than Fiction, and more talent than the World Tour.

Each DVD copy will have a unique code printed on a business card inserted in the package. Innersection members will be able to vote for which surfer has the best section. With $100,000 for the winner, it's going to be very competitive."

Part 3

Haroshi x Nike Dunk

“The special edition Dunk was actually created from decks belonging to skaters from Nike’s own pro skate team and include boards from the likes of: P-Rod, Lance Mountain, Eric Koston, Brian Anderson, Cory Kennedy and many more. The pair is actually modelled on a pair of haroshi’s own well-worn shoes. These detailed shots, illustrate each of the creases, crimps and even the knotted laces worked into the sculptures. Interestingly the curvature of the decks accurately matches that of the used Dunk, which is portrayed as a hidden message within the art. A second subliminal message is found under X-ray scanning, where “Sole in soul” is revealed, making a pun the skate artwork that finds itself on the underside of the shoe.”

What?

In surfing news, actor Dick Van Dyke, star of classic films like "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" and "Mary Poppins," was once saved by dolphins while surfing.

He must have been charging all day, because he somehow fell asleep and drifted out to sea.

"I woke up out of sight of land... and I started paddling with the swells and I started seeing fins swimming around me and I thought, 'I'm dead!'

Just as he was about to give up and succumb to a horrible death at sea, he noticed they weren't shark fins.

"They turned out to be porpoises (and) they pushed me all the way to shore. I'm not kidding."

This is crazy, I had no idea Dick Van Dyke could surf.

Irony

It's pretty crazy they chose a song called "I killed myself when I was young" when this was put together a few months ago.

itunes exclusive...

Whether you're a fan of P-rod or not, you're probably going to end up watching his full part coming Nov. 15...

Anyone notice he's climbing two different fences in the beginging? I'd wait a few days rather then spend the money, if you can.

R.I.P Andy Irons

Andy Irons Dead from Dengue Fever

Andy Irons was a three-time world surfing champion who could conquer any wave, but the 32-year-old Hawaii native succumbed to complications from dengue fever.

The news shocked and saddened the surfing world and made clear the danger posed by a disease that is nearly unheard of in the states.

Symptoms include high fevers, rashes, headaches and fatigue. It is rarely deadly and usually goes away on its own after a week. But a related disease, dengue hemorrhagic fever, is very dangerous. Victims can go into a shock-like state and spots of blood appear on and under the skin. Doctors can only treat the symptoms, not the underlying virus. If patients survive the early shock, they typically survive.

From news reports, it is not yet clear what form of dengue fever Irons had or what complications caused his death.

Irons won three straight world titles from 2002 to 2004, according to Bloomberg, and was the only surfer to win at every spot on the elite tour.

He leaves behind his wife and unborn son.
